Day Light Saving [message #223476]

Hi

I went through an article in Oracle regarding Oracle Day light saving.

Please let me know based on the following if i require to apply the patch to my Oracle 10g Database.

1.I have a Peoplesoft Application on an Oracle 10 Database.

2.All my Servers are in India.

3.I am not using any time specific data type in my application.

Please let me know if i really require to patch my Database and also if required should it be before 11th March

Your server can be anywhere. It depends what timezone your databases are serving. If the databases are not using tzts datatypes right now, you no need to patch it (if you are using Java objects, you must). But for future compatiblity (what if your applications want to use tzts later?) just apply atleast the version 3, which is not a big deal ( just a few files in OS swapped).

Hi Mahesh

Since you have expressed interest i shall share a few things with you.

1.Mine is a Peoplesoft ERP System which does not not support TZ data types.So for the moment i am not really worried.It uses only date Data Types.

So what do u think?

2.What is this version 3.U mean to say 10.2.0.3.0?

3.My Web Servers do run on java applications.I know u need not answer this but can u advice whether Web Server running on JRE 1.4.2_08 requires DST Patching

1.) read my previous response. It a pure business decision. If you are never goint to use, no patch required.
2.) DST version 3 /DST version 4(us/canada) are timezone files for the supplied by oracle.
3.) By Java Objects, i meant Oracle JVM options used inside database. If you are not using, no need to worry.
With JRE, we have patched several of them. If you are not using the TSTZ, ignore it.

Our Servers are on Delhi time Zone.I mean to say India Time Zone.Also in that case is it required.I am not saying that i dont want to apply,but i want to gain knowledge
