Hello all,

We want to create a new 10g database of 100gb (SGA size 2 GB)in a box which has already 4 instances (2 9i db, 2 10g db) and 1 informatica repository.

The total size of the respective databases are 30, 50, 50, 100 GB which the corresponding SGA sizes are 800 Mb, 800Mb, 1.5Gb, 2Gb.

The RAM in OS level is 16gb.

Will it affect the performance of this and other databases if we undergo creating the 5th database in this server.

Is 16gb RAM is sufficient to support the same.

Please advice what should be the memory requirement in OS level to create a database of 100GB (SGA size 2 GB).

OS Version : sun solaris 5.8

Thanks and Regards,
Prashanth

I'm not an expert at this but:

There are more thing to consider then memory alone.
- think of CPU
- think of Network
- think of IO
- think of how busy the databses are

All these things impact the performance (at least from a user point of view) of the database.

Probably adding another database to the 4 already running databses will give some performance degradation.

Best Regards,
Martijn
