Hi All,

I have a 64 Bit Dell Server & Windows 2003 64 bit running on it. I would like to know whether if installing an Oracle 9i 32 bit version in the server would work fine, or whether I should go for a 64 bit version of Oracle 9i for Windows.

Thanks
Cheers

User52, I don't know anything about it, so I'm just curious (as your answer sounds very selfconfident): why not 64-bit Oracle? OK, 32-bit works fine, but WHY NOT 64-bit? Any special reason (keeping in mind that Ruben has 64-bit both server and operating system)?

Oracle 9i server on 64-bit windows is only supported for Itanium processors.

Actually, you can install and run the 32-bit version for x86. But there is no guarantee that it will work. For us, it gave latching issues under heavy load. And since Oracle doesn't support it, we rolled back to 32-bit windows.

Regards,

Arian
