Hi everybody,

I am facing a problem in importing perticular user from the backup. we everyday take a logical backup using following syntax.

C:\exp system/manager@orcltemp file=f:\full_dump\full.dmp log=f:\full_dump\log.log full=yes

Now one of my user wants his data in the different user of status 20th may 2006. I have the backup and i am trying to import it with following syntax.

C:\imp system/manager@orcltemp file=F:\full_dump\full_20_may06.dmp log=F:\full_dump\full_20_may06.log fromuser=bcentral_pf touser=bcd_pf

Where i have created a new user bcd_pf and granted a dba. bcentral_pf has the complete data which i need to import to bcd_pf. But when i run this syntax it is not importing an objects in return it hangs for few seconds and comes out without importing any objects. If i check the log file does't contain any thing.

I need a help as to how best i can import it.

Regards,
Anil

Try to add FULL=Y to the IMP command.

If i import with full=yes, objects are getting imported.
If objects are imported (at least, that's what I concluded reading your last post), what's the question? Is there any other problem? Error message? Anything?

Hi,

If i import with full=y all objects will be imported. Which i don't want. As, the size of the dump file itself is 3.3gb. The total database size is around 28gb. My user wants the objects of his own data in new username. So i created username as bcd_pf and tried to import from it from backup of 20th may 06 of user bcentral_pf to bcd_pf. When i try to import with fromuser and touser the objects are not getting imported. There is no error also. Log file also does't contain any information. So i am not getting what exactly is the problem.

I apologize; it was my mistake - FULL and FROMUSER ... TOUSER parameters can't be used together. My initial idea was completely wrong.

Were export and import done using the same version? Did you, for example, use EXP 9i and IMP 8.1.7?

The backup is from the same server. So there is no question of migration.
