Hi all,

I have a machine running
Linux tba1.domain.com 2.4.21-32.0.1.ELsmp #1 SMP Tue May 17 17:52:23 EDT 2005 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

So I downloaded
ship_9204_linux_disk1.cpio
ship_9204_linux_disk2.cpio
ship_9204_linux_disk3.cpio

I've unzipped and un - cpio -ed the files,

However when I run the installer I get the following error...

[oracle@tba1 Disk1]$ ./runInstaller
[oracle@tba1 Disk1]$ Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /tmp/OraInstall2005-07-27_08-22-23AM/jre/bin/java. Please wait...
Error in CreateOUIProcess(): 13
: Permission denied

Thanking you all inadvance....

Hi

Yup I've done all env stuff ... however this seems the best site ..

http://www.puschitz.com/InstallingOracle9i.shtml#RunningOracleInstallationOnRHELAS3

I still have one question, in unix you update the /etc/system file, don't I need to do that for linux?

I dnt think that u need to modify /etc/system in linux.

Try do download latest java on ur machine , and install it in /usr/local ( given in the documentation ).

U can also try this link out.
