I faced following error messages while trying to shut down the database

dba-00342 'unable to complete internal login'
ora-01034 'oracle not available'
ora-07429 'smsgsg:shmget, failed to get segment'

if you have any clue or solution, pls. respond ASAP......

Your instance is down. Check the alert log for more information.

Looks like the SGA is not getting adequate memory. Free any 'held' memory if your instance went down from an open/mount state state.

if you are on windows go to services and stop all oracle services.Now start OracleService<your_SID> and then start listener.If problem does not solve then from sqlplus startup nomount,if not successful then try to edit the pfile and reduce the amount of SGA.
