Hi everybody!

I'm very new on Oracle.
My first question is:
I have downloded Oracle9.2 Client and the question which I have
have now is. When I want to create my first DB and one or two
tables to communicate later through a java application
do I need the Application-Server in any case.
Problem is I'm not be able log in into DB which I priviously have configured during the installation (which is standard user
passwort) ??

regards

with a 9.2 client , you cannot create a database.
you need the database server componenents.
Download them again and install server software, create database and then use your 9i client.

What kind of application is this?
and oracle application server that server your web page integrates both database and java pieces.
For a simple setup like yours, a set with apache webserver or equivalent should do.
just use JDBC thin drivers etc.
With JDBC thin drivers you dont even need the oracle client to be installed.

should be the same site where you downloaded the client.
Just download the server
or install server instead of just the client.
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/htdocs/winsoft.html
assuming you are using a windows OS.

Yes, since you want the database to be created, you need to download the server release as well. Using a client alone, you can't create a database.
