I was trying to apply patch 2832809 on oracle 8174, yes i had my ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_BASE, TNS_ADMIN pointing to correct locations and there are zero databases running and zero listener running under this ORACLE_HOME, we never created a databse under this ORACLE_HOME but i still getting following error message can anyone tell me why I am getting this error message?
Erorr Message:
Patch Utility: Applying patch 2877712 for 8.1.7 on HP-UX 64bit
Seems that some databases in /u10/app/oracle/product/817 are active
Patch installation aborted
Found instance: DBDB open
Well DBDB instance is running under oracle 9i and all my env is set for Oracle 8i ONLY.
