well,my database is 8.1.7, in every statspack report, iam seeing in top 5 wait events the log file sync? can be tell me what is log file sync...
Top 5 Wait Events

how to calculate from above report whether it's normal or abnormal? please tell me

heavy log_file_sync_waits in comparison to write requests means LGWR is taking too much time to transfer data from redo buffer to redo log file.

Way out is to tune commit & checkpoint.

log_file_sync_waits should be low.

how low they shd be..... need to check it out.
