Greetings,

I have been working with Oracle9i on the Windows 2000 and XP platforms. Now I am wanting to install on the Server 2003 platform. But I noticed that the download for Oracle9i for Server 2003 is quite a bit different. It is lighter by several hundreds of MB. Does anyone know what it is missing?

Eric

Doesn't the installation succeed?

Perhaps some features are not available on Win2k3. Try to install it, don't get misguided by installation file size.

Perhaps you need to install the Windows 32bit for XP and upgrade via the patch? Just a long shot. I'd post this in the Oracle forums too...( http://forums.oracle.com )

Hmmm... so you actually did the download, and all you got was a patch? That's very interesting, because it is not presented that way on the Oracle website. It is presented as a full download. The only reason I even had any question about it is because the size is so different from the version that I have always used for XP and Windows2000. I think my best solution for right now is to just use the version I have always been using, becuase I am quite sure it will work. But it really has be curious.

Actually, I am beginning to think you're right about that. Thing is, I am almost positive I have run the XP/2000 version on 2003 before without difficulty. Of course, I was using it in a test lab, not on a production server, so I could easily have missed something. Hmmm....well, let me know if you hear anything.
