Hi,
I had installed Oracle 9.2 on HP-UX 11i and the configuration assistants failed to start and it showed some JAVA class uninitilization errors. I guess I had not installed JAVA properly.

Oracle9i installs one of the versions of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) listed in the following table,depending on your platform:
Platform JRE Version
HP JRE 1.1.8.06

The Oracle Software media I have does not have JRE in it. So I need to install JRE. But the website
www.hp.com/go/java doest not have JRE 1.1.8.06.
So can I go ahead & install JRE 1.3 or 1.4 . And also should I apply all the JAVA patches that HP recommends.

Thanks
Satish

By the way this is the link to my installations logfile

The installation is throwing exceptions during the LINKING phase..( after 99 % installing)

libnjni9.so should be in two locations.
In your environment, please make sure you have
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib32 first and then
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib

I did not set the LD_LIBRARY_PATH in .profile.
Is this error because of this.
The unix installation documentation says only PATH & DISPLAY as the only 2 required environment variables.
By the can why do we have to set the
LD_LIBRARY_PATH ???
Thanks

and Make sure you dont have a CLASSPATH set your environment.

Might be.
There may any MORE reasons too! ( bugs/OS-installed packages/patches,env settings etc).

what is the error?
No. As long as you have the metalink access, they dont charge.
