I am using IBM WMQ 5.2 and Oracle 9.2.0.2 and jdk1.3.1. When I use this environment and run my java application, sometimes I get an xa_end MQ error because of XAER_NOTA(XID Not Valid) exception. This is an oracle exception. When this comes, the MQ doesn't do a rollback even though Oracle does a rollback. Due to this I have lost the message in the MQ Queue and as well as not got stored in the database.

Do somebody know when this XAER_NOTA occurs and what is the solution for it. Is there a fix anywhere?

Sometimes I also see that the database locks indefinitely and the xa_commit never returns. When this occurs, we restart the java application.

Please let me know if you require more information on this.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

XAER_NOTA indicates that the XID is not valid.

Are you using RAC? If so, look at Bug 3507464.8. If not, your best option would be to log a TAR with Oracle Support.

Best regards.
