We upgraded from oracle 8i to 9i recently, I am still using rollback segments, in order to get rid of rollback segments and start using undo tablepsace, what parameter I should set in init.ora file and how many undo tablespaces I should create? Right now I have one 500M rollback segment and 4 small rollback segments sum(4 small rbs)= 500meg. How many undo tablespaces and sizes would be good to have for my all rbs .

Thanks for the help

Hi,

You can only have one active UNDO tablespace at a
time. I would create it with the same size as your
old Rollback tablespace (although some say that it
can be somewhat smaller). For more info, see
http://www.orafaq.net/articles/archives/000009.htm

Best regards.

Hi,

Since every database should have 1 undo tablespace...

if you want you can comment those parameters, butr it always recommanded to commet it.

once you specify the undo tablespace parameter it server will simply ignore's rollback segment parameters.
