1- If there isn’t any tnsnames.ora, how can I get all the DB SIDs ?

2 – Does /etc/oratab file contains ALL the instance names? Can I assume that all the BD Instances names are in this file?

Thanks in advance !

tnsnames.ora is to identify the connectstrings for the clients.

Ideally, in $ORACLE_BASE/admin you can see one directory for every sid.
THERE no readymade_list that contains all SID.

oratab entries will show all the SID's.
But , SOMEONE can remove the entries at their will.

what is a BD instance here?

1. tnsnames.ora has nothing to do with loca database servers.

2. NO. that file can be modified anytime and won't affect any db.

Best luck.
