Hi!

We are administering Oracle 8.0.4 on Windows NT 4.0 with the data stored on a Micron Netframe (dual cpu/5 disks). The disk controller is SCSI. We run on NOARCHIVELOG mode.

Since yesterday, when we run a particular form which has heavy deletes/inserts (usually above 3000) we are getting Ora-01578/ Ora-01110 errors.

* Yesterday, the errors came up when the program hit a particular datablock.

* But, today we discovered that the same error is cropping up in a different file.           We suspect that this is Oracle soft corruption...But we need help in containing and eliminating the problem.

* We are tried out windows check disk utility - no luckFollowing errors were found :

Oracle Forms -

* ORA - 01110 : data file 32 : D:sharacdbsits_cds_dat1.ora

* ORA - 01115 : error reading block from file 32

we ran scripts to zero in on corrupt objects..

- 1 table & 2 clusters are corrupt

Pls let me know some os utilities to repair this...

Our transactional activities have been held up...

Wots the long term/short term solution?

Pls reply asap...

TIA,

bluebyte

depends.
first run a simple query/update from sqlplus.
Is the error reproduced?
is there any ORA-0600 errors? if so post the complete error message.

CHeck the available disk space.

look into the alert_sid.log and post the latest relevant information.
IF any trace files is generated, post the same.

IF this IS a data block corruption, better open a TAR with oracle support.

Hi Bluebyte,
I am having the same error on RBS01.dbf datafile and I can not get into SQLPLUS at all. Database is 8.1.6 and also running noarchive log mode.

If have already been able to resolve your problem can you please let me in on how you fixed your problem?

Best regards
