I would like to know what patches I need to apply to my version of oracle 8.1.7.4 on Sun Solaris. Is there a tool that I can use to determine this? Oracle has been running on this box for almost a year and has not been administered. Thank you in advance.

Try this:
select * from product_component_version;

Hi,

By querying product_component_version you will know which version and release you are using. But to check whether interim patches have been applied to your DB, you have to use OPATCH utility which you can easily find at Metalink.
