Can a Management Server reside on a workgroup? [message #63067] Tue, 07 September 2004 04:23

I am trying to set up an 8i Management Server and clients all on a Windows 2000 workgroup, i.e., on computers that have not been joined to the domain.  The installation of the server and clients was successful, but I cannot log onto the Management Server from the Enterprise Manager Console.

The error message I get when I try to logon is: "VTD-1000: Unable to connect to the management server".  All services are running.

At first I thought the default userid / password was wrong, but now I suspect that the server must reside on a domain.  If so, may I simply join to the domain, or will I need to re-install the server?

Thanks for any information.
