I am running a 9i release 1 db on win NT. I receive the following error messages almost every day and that time the performance of db very slow and consumes 100% of cpu resources. What might be the possible reasons and solutions?

ORA-0600 with argument [[17285]] followed by ORA-4030: Out of process memory when trying to allocate n bytes.

Check out MetaLink for this one. Internal errors should be checked there first.

There's a ORA 600 lookup tool that helps you out quite nicely.

What error messages do you see in your Alert.log ?
The error messages might be a good pointer.
Do you see any error dumps?
