Hello,

I am wondering if anyone knows.

The First_change# column and Next_change# in v$log_history view

indicate the lowest SCN and highest SCN in the log file.

    RECID      STAMP    THREAD#  SEQUENCE# FIRST_CHANGE# FIRST_TI NEXT_CHANGE#
--------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ------------- -------- ------------
     1528  528372470          1       1528       1086677 04-06-08      1086930
     1529  528372582          1       1529       1086930 04-06-09      1087130
     1530  528372973          1       1530       1087130 04-06-09      1087313
     1531  528373064          1       1531       1087313 04-06-09      1087503
     1532  528377304          1       1532       1087503 04-06-09      1087713

How come here, in the first record, the next_change# is same with

the first_change# in the next record?

For example shouldn't the first_change# in RECID=1529 be 1086931?

Thanks,

Beegirl

Hi,

Great observation! Yet, this is Oracle internal stuff. There is not much we as mere DBA mortals can do about it. I don't think the overlap is of great significance either.

Best regards.
