Hai OracleGurus!

I have installed Oracle Forms 6i on Windows 98 Pentium III. I don't have problems connecting to the Database (PE 8i) using SQL Plus, but I try to connect using Forms, I get the following error: "TNS-12538 TNS:NO such protocol adapter"

ORACL_HOME DETAILS:

$ORACLE_HOME = C:ORACLE
$DEV_HOME = C:ORAWIN95
$SID = oradba8i
$GLOBAL_DBNAME = oradba8i

how to install? and how to configure?

Please Help me in Detail.

Copy file tnsnames.ora from ${ORACLE_HOME}/network/admin to ${FORMS_HOME}/network/admin and it will work.

Hai Anatol!

Thanks for the reply.

I tried your configuration it is connected to oracle but in forms shows the following error

Ora-01034: oracle not available
Ora-27101: shared memory realm does not exist

About my configuration

1. I installed oracle in c:oracle
2. I installed forms 6I and reports in c:dev
3. I copied tnsnames.ora file from c:oracle... to c:dev...
3. My connection with oracle no probs.
4. But in forms the above error

Please tell me the PE oracle8I and forms6I installaztion in windows98 in detail.

This error seems that Oracle is not starting up(official version) - possible that you are try to open too much connections than indicated, or posssible problems in your listeners. Try to restart a database, then try to connect from other application(sqlplus for example) as simple user that have minimum privileges. Possible problem that you have personal edition of Oracle - try to install Enterprize Edition and Forms on NT OS.
