Hi,

When system starts up, ASM instances and Database instances were started automatically in a 2 node rac.

The file /etc/oratab has "N" set to both instances,

+ASM1:/u01/app/12.1.0/grid_1:N: # line added by Agent
racdb:/u01/app/oracle/product/12.1.0/dbhome_1:N: # line added by Agent

So, which script is invoking the automatic start ups?

Thanks.

Regards
Raj.

Grid Infrastructure is a lot more complicated than that. Here are a couple of simple tutorials that may help you to get started:

The short answer is that it is Grid Infrastructure that knows which databases will be started/stopped and how. Do this:

srvctl config database -d db_name

It will show you how that db is configured to start and stop.
